How to learn Python programming language faster

Building a strong foundation in the basics of Python is crucial, and once you have a solid understanding of the fundamentals, your learning speed can accelerate. Learning is an ongoing process, and there is always more to discover and explore.

Learning anything quickly, be it Python or any other technical skill, holds significant importance. In this post, I will share my tips and suggestions on why and how to master Python programming language faster.
So, let’s get started!
Before we discuss ‘how,’ let us first clarify why it is important to learn Python programming quickly.

Why learn Python Programming Faster?

1. Importance of Taking the First Step

Each person has their own reasons and excuses for either learning or not learning Python programming quickly. However, the most significant and universal reason for everyone is that before you start doubting your decision you must start learning.

If you have a habit of frequently changing your decisions or doubting yourself, then the importance of learning any skill quickly becomes even more significant. To learn any skill faster, it’s crucial to start learning without overthinking and second-guessing yourself.

2. Don’t Miss Out on Opportunities

Python programming is currently in high demand and is likely to remain so in the future. However, in the ever-evolving IT field, nothing is guaranteed.

Technology companies frequently change their strategies, introduce new products, and bring fresh tools to the market. The career and business growth opportunities available today may not exist later. If you keep postponing your decision, you are missing out on valuable opportunities.

3. Focus on Your ‘Why’

There is undoubtedly a reason behind your desire to learn the Python programming language. Perhaps it is to boost your monthly income, pursue a career as a Python developer, increase your earnings, become famous by educating others in Python development, or create your AI or ML tools.

And you know that these goals can lead you to financial success.

But however, if you solely concentrate on monetary gains and neglect what’s truly important – mastering Python programming – then think about how you can attain your financial and entrepreneurial aspirations.

That is why it is important to stay active and enthusiastic about learning and practicing Python for 3 to 4 hours a day or more. When your other goals depend on your Python programming skills, dedicating maximum time to mastering the language becomes imperative.

So, stop procrastinating and start learning. The sooner you learn, the faster you can achieve your income and career development objectives.

4. Begin Your Learning Journey Now

If you’re constantly surfing YouTube videos or absorbing random programming and career advice, you leave yourself vulnerable to external influences that might make you reconsider your decision to learn Python.

Listening to others too much and not taking action can make us procrastinate. We keep following advice because we doubt our decisions. We lose confidence and may not have the motivation to achieve our career and business goals.

That’s why it’s important to concentrate on your learning and practice, instead of watching random videos or consuming content on YouTube that isn’t related to Python.

5. Do not overthink it

Avoid dwelling on what might go wrong. What if you cannot learn Python well? What if you do not find a job? What if you cannot get Python projects?

Even experts or those with years of IT experience doubt themselves, often because they worry too much about the future, about achieving perfection or producing perfect results.

But this isn’t the best approach to learning Python quickly.

You have to clear your mind. Keep it simple. Follow the step-by-step process each day to learn Python. Just learn and practice every day, and it’s as simple as that. Have confidence in yourself and your judgment, and take small steps each day. With this approach, you can learn faster.

So, I hope you found the tips provided above valuable and that they will help you to learn Python programming quickly and effectively.

Now let us understand how to learn fast.

How to learn Python Programming quickly and effectively?

1. Avoid Setting Clear Goals Too Soon

Many programming advice sources stress the importance of setting clear goals early on such as deciding on Web Development, Data Analysis, Machine learning, and other purposes.  While goals or learning purpose is essential, this advice may not be suitable for beginners.

Why It is Wrong:

Beginners often lack a comprehensive understanding of web development, data analysis, or machine learning. Even if they have some knowledge, they may struggle to define their interests or decide what is best for them without hands-on experience.

Therefore, the best starting point is diving into Python code and learning its basics. This approach jumpstarts the learning journey, making it easier for beginners to grasp the fundamentals.

Regardless of whether they eventually choose web development or data analysis, both or any other thing need coding skills. You can’t be anything such as a developer or analyst, or expert without coding knowledge.

So, it’s wise to start with coding. The initial focus should be on mastering the basics of Python programming. And in which most important is learning and practicing Python syntax.

2. Learn the basics of Python programming in more detail

In many Python courses, instructors often skim over fundamental syntax elements, dedicating only 1 to 3 minutes to concepts like variables, dictionaries, tuples, and lists. However, my point is that you should allocate a more substantial 1 to 3 hours for practical exercises involving these foundational syntax elements across various program types.

This is essential because familiarity with syntax is paramount. It is not just about knowing how to use these elements but also understanding when to use them. For instance, while you may have learned about lists, not knowing when to opt for a list over a tuple or dictionary can lead to confusion.

That is why, I strongly recommend that if you desire to build Python programming skills faster, you should invest additional time in thoroughly mastering the syntax. Building a robust foundation in basic Python syntax will greatly facilitate a quicker grasp of code, allowing you to comprehend the logic and structure of any Python program with more ease and speed.

3. Effective Learning Approach

Many Python courses promise quick mastery in just an hour or a day but remember that Python is a vast language, and even those with over a decade of experience continue learning daily. Trying to absorb it all in a single course or tutorial is not the right approach.

Learning and Practice

Instead, consider a method that combines effective learning and extensive practice. Here is a structured process to follow:

  • Initial Learning (10-20 minutes): If you are learning Python through online courses then start by watching a tutorial or concept video for a brief. For example, you watched or learned how to use “For Loop”.
  • Dedicated Practice (1-2 hours): After your initial learning session, allocate a significant amount of time to practice the “For Loop” concepts you have just learned. Make sure you master every detail, including the fundamentals of the elements used in that program or tutorial.
  • To reinforce your understanding, you can explore various tutorials covering the same concept or engage in numerous exercises until you’re capable of independently creating and running a “For Loop” without assistance. This hands-on approach will solidify your comprehension and proficiency in using this specific Python construct.
  • Review and Reinforce (2nd Day or Session): On the second day or in your next session, begin by revisiting the content you learned the previous day. This time, challenge yourself to practice without watching tutorials or searching for code online or using external tools like ChatGPT.
  • Understanding Over Memorization: Rather than trying to memorize all the syntax, focus on understanding how to generate syntax from your learning. This approach will help you build a more robust and flexible understanding of Python, which is more valuable in the long run.

So combining focused learning, extensive practice, and regular review, you can effectively enhance your Python skills, ensuring a deeper and more lasting grasp of the language.
